Kira Farmers Exhibition – Millennial Farmers Market

Overview:

AgroFResh Uganda organized a vibrant Farmers Exhibition at the Millennial Farmers Market in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District. The event brought together smallholder farmers, buyers, and agri-enthusiasts to showcase and trade fresh produce, fostering community engagement and market access.

Highlights:

• Diverse Produce Display: Farmers exhibited Matooke, Irish potatoes, fresh vegetables, dairy products, and organic meat, attracting hundreds of visitors.
• Market Linkages: Direct sales and partnerships formed between farmers and retailers/restaurants.
• Knowledge Exchange: Live demonstrations on post-harvest handling, organic farming, and packaging to reduce losses.

Outcomes:

• 200+ farmers gained visibility and increased income through direct sales.
• Strengthened community ties and consumer awareness of locally grown food.

Future Plans:

• Expand exhibitions to other districts, incorporating agri-tech showcases (e.g., solar dryers, irrigation tools).
